Kayla recently completed her collegiate lacrosse career at Virginia Tech after spending her graduate season with the Hokies in 2024. Prior to Virginia Tech, she starred at Coastal Carolina University, where she graduated with a degree in Physical Education in May 2023 and established herself as one of the top attackers in the country. During her final season at Coastal, Kayla recorded 98 points in 19 games, earning ASUN Player of the Year honors while breaking program records for single-season points (98), goals (56), and single-game points (10).
At Virginia Tech, Kayla made an immediate impact during her fifth year, starting all 18 games and finishing with 81 points on 24 goals and a program-record 57 assists. She also set Virginia Tech’s single-season points record and became one of the top playmakers in the ACC. Throughout her collegiate career between Coastal Carolina and Virginia Tech, Kayla totaled 291 career points (141 goals, 148 assists).
Before college, Kayla was a standout multi-sport athlete at West Babylon High School, where she played lacrosse, basketball, soccer, and cross country. She was a three-time All-County selection in lacrosse, a First Team All-American in 2019, and was named MVP of the Long Island All-Star Game her senior year. She was also an All-Tournament Team selection in both 2016 and 2017 and represented the Under Armour Command Team as a defender in 2016. In basketball, Kayla earned All-League honors during both her junior and senior seasons.
In addition to her playing career, Kayla is a physical education teacher in Bethpage where she coaches JV soccer and varsity lacrosse. She also works with the Long Island Jesters club program, helping develop young athletes from kindergarten through high school.
Ellie Downey recently completed her collegiate lacrosse career at SUNY Oneonta, where she graduated in May 2025 with a degree in Exercise Science. During her time with the Red Dragons, Ellie was a consistent contributor on the field, tallying 101 career points while continuing to grow as both a player and leader throughout her collegiate career.
Before college, Ellie was a standout multi-sport athlete at West Babylon High School, competing in lacrosse, winter track, and cross country. She was a member of the varsity cross country and winter track teams beginning in 8th grade, showcasing her dedication and work ethic from an early age. During her senior lacrosse season, Ellie earned All-County honors and helped lead her team to a County Championship.
Following graduation, Ellie continued pursuing her passion for health and wellness and is now enrolled in the nursing program at Molloy University. Alongside her academic achievements, Ellie remains passionate about athletics, mentorship, and helping young athletes build confidence both on and off the field.
Lacey Downey is currently a redshirt sophomore at Johns Hopkins University, where she has quickly emerged as one of the top midfielders in college lacrosse. Prior to transferring to Johns Hopkins, Lacey spent her freshman redshirt season at Boston College, where she was a member of the 2024 NCAA National Championship team.
Since arriving at Johns Hopkins, Lacey has made an immediate impact for the Blue Jays. During the 2025 season, she recorded 58 points while ranking among the team leaders in assists, draw controls, and caused turnovers. In 2026, she elevated her game even further, earning recognition as one of the nation’s top all-around midfielders. Lacey was named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Watch List and later advanced to the final 25 nominees for the award, which honors the top player in collegiate lacrosse.
Through the 2026 season, Lacey totaled 53 points on 31 goals and 22 assists while also contributing 39 ground balls, 30 caused turnovers, and 21 draw controls. She ranked among the national leaders in free-position goals, ground balls, shot percentage, and caused turnovers. She also earned multiple Big Ten Midfielder of the Week honors, highlighted by a career-best six-goal, eight-point performance against Rutgers.
Before college, Lacey was one of the most decorated multi-sport athletes in Long Island history at West Babylon High School. In lacrosse, she earned First Team All-American honors, was a member of the USA Development Team, a four-time Under Armour All-American, two-time First Team All-Long Island selection, Under Armour Tournament MVP, and a 2021 County Champion. She also led Long Island in points during her final two high school seasons.
On the basketball court, Lacey became the all-time leading scorer in West Babylon history with over 1,200 career points while earning two All-Long Island selections, three league championships, two county championships, and a Long Island Championship in 2022. In field hockey, she earned two All-State honors, two First Team All-Long Island selections, one Second Team All-Long Island honor, and three All-County selections.
Lacey made history as the first female athlete ever to earn First Team All-Long Island honors twice in three different sports: lacrosse, basketball, and field hockey. Alongside her athletic success, she is pursuing a degree in engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
Chloe is currently a sophomore at West Babylon High School, where she is already making a name for herself as a standout three-sport varsity athlete. During her sophomore year, Chloe competed on the varsity volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse teams, continuing the strong athletic tradition of the Downey family.
On the lacrosse field, Chloe is known for her athleticism and versatility. Outside of school, she competes for one of the top travel programs in the country for her age group, the Long Island Jesters 2028 Black Downey team, where she is coached by her older sister, Kayla. Through her travel experience, Chloe competes against elite national-level competition while continuing to develop her skills year-round.
In addition to lacrosse, Chloe has also excelled on the basketball court and volleyball court at the varsity level, showcasing her competitive drive and team-first mentality across multiple sports. Her work ethic, toughness, and dedication to improving continue to make her one of the rising young athletes to watch on Long Island.
Kayla, Ellie, and Lacey all played varsity lacrosse together for the 2018 and 2019 seasons. Both seasons they led the team to the County Finals.
